Renton, Begbie, Spud and Sick Boy, they all will be back in Danny Boyle’s upcoming film and Trainspotting sequel, set for release in 2017. Principal photography will begin in spring of 2016 if things go on as planned.
The sequel for the 1993 novel Trainspotting is titled Porno, and tells the story of the main characters ten years after the events in which Begbie and Sick Boy were deceived by Mark Renton following a successful drug deal. The title of the film sequel however, has not been defined.
The title of the new movie hasn’t been revealed, although Boyle has previously floated T2 as a possibility (provided they can get the OK from the people behind the other T2, James Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day). SlashFilm.com
John Hodge (‘A Life Less Ordinary’ and ‘The Beach’), who adapted the original film from Irvine Welsh’s novel, has been confirmed as screenwriter in this project.
The worldwide rights to the movie have been acquired by TriStar Pictures, according to DenOfGeek.
At this moment it is still unclear if author Irvine Welsh will make a cameo appearance in the forthcoming film. Let’s remember he played the role of Mikey Forrester in the 1996 film.
