Mexican striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernández joins Real Madrid on loan, just before the transfer deadline. Hernández had joined Manchester United in 2010 and scored 59 goals in 154 appearances.
Spanish newspaper Marca reports Real Madrid had been looking for a player to replace French international Karim Benzema.
Both, Marca and the BBC reported “Chicharito” was a surplus in Louis van Gaal‘s squad, considering the arrival of Radamel “El Tigre” Falcao.
“Chicharito” scored only 4 goals last term in the Premier League. He had few appearances under the Dutchman’s tenure. During the last World Cup Hernandez scored only once and had an uneventful participation.
With the Merengue squad, Hernandez will try to duplicate the glory achieved by Hugo Sánchez from 1985 to 1992 (five consecutive league titles), following a 4-year spell with archenemies Atlético Madrid.
