Cristiano Ronaldo: Ballon D’Or 2013

Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro has been awarded the FIFA Ballon D’Or 2013.

The 28-years-old Portuguese forward received the same citation for the 2008 season, when he played for the English club Manchester United. The late Eusébio and Luis Figo along with Ronaldo are the three Portuguese stars who have received the Ballon D’Or.

Cristiano Ronaldo currently plays for Spanish club Real Madrid in La Liga. Lionel Messi (Argentina) and Franck Ribéry (France) were also in the short list to receive the award. Messi received the mentioned accolade three consecutive times (2010, 2011 and 2013).

Ronaldo will lead the Portuguese national team in the final rounds of FIFA World Cup™ during the summer. In the group stage they will face Germany, Ghana and the United States of America.
