The Tube map every football fan wants to take a look at

Mind the gap

Forget about catching a train at Victoria station, now it is called Paolo Maldini. And no more Waterloo, the name is Stanley Matthews. Baker Street is now the Alex Ferguson station… now I haven’t gone bonkers; I am talking about the reworked Tube map, created to mark the FA and the Underground 150th anniversaries.

Former international star Michael Owen spoke of this special map:

I think the football-themed Tube map is a great way to celebrate the 150th anniversary of both the London Underground and the Football Association. I am absolutely delighted to be included at Oxford Circus: Michael Owen.

Arsène Wenger, Thierry Henry, Mikel Arteta, Dennis Bergkamp and Jack Wilshere are some of the Arsenal stars featured on this celebratory map.

Mexican striker Javier Hernández is featured in the “Overseas Stars” line, replacing Wandsworth Road Overground station.

According to the FA, the map has will be available to buy from the Transport for London online shop, London Transport Museum Shop in Covent Garden and the Wembley Stadium shop.

This is a pretty nifty way to celebrate both anniversaries if you ask me.

October 3rd, 2013.
