And they did! Arsenal have stunned media and fans with the £42.4 million deal which will bring the German international to Emirates Stadium. According to BBC, this move will surpass the club-record signing of Andrei Arshavin in 2009.
Mesut Özil was born in Gelsenkirchen, on October 15th, 1998. He is currently on international duty but might arrive in London just in time for the next Premier League match against Sunderland.
Currently Arsenal are on fourth place of the table with 6 points in three matches.
Özil has played for German clubs Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen. With Real Madrid he achieved the La Liga and Copa del Rey titles. He is constantly praised for his skills as an attacking midfielder and his ability to assist.
Italian goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano has joined Arsenal on loan for the season, with a reported option to make the move permanent at the end of the season. Viviano will support the Pole-duo (Szczęsny and Fabiański) who are in charge of the team’s goal line.
