Arsenal has officially confirmed Russian footballer Andrey Arshavin is leaving the Gooners after 5 seasons with the English club.
Andrey Sergeyevich Arshavin made 144 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 31 times. He had limited first-team opportunities last term and had his last appearance with the club in UEFA Champions League™ in the clash against Olympiakos.
The Russian striker anticipated his exit from Emirates Stadium since last April, when he said in an interview:
It’s clear I’m going to leave Arsenal. It was Arsène’s decision, he didn’t use me but I still train and I feel fit enough to play. I do not see any problems playing for another team: Arshavin.
Arshavin will not be the only one leaving the club this summer though. Denilson and Sebastien Squillaci are also leaving as their contracts with the North London side are coming to an end.
It is unclear if Arshavin will continue to play in Barclays™ Premier League; in the meantime, he was recently spotted in Miami, frolicking in the beach with a woman who is not his wife:
