Confirmed: José Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge

The return of the “Special One” as Chelsea manager has been confirmed today by the club, following the dismissal of Spaniard Rafael Benitez, the interim coach who led “the Blues” to the UEFA Europa League title last term.

José Mário dos Santos Mourinho Félix will be officially presented in a press conference at Stamford Bridge on Monday, June 10th, according to BBC. His new contract with the West London side will last until 2017 if no new terms are agreed.

It was an easy decision. I met the boss, the owner and I think in five minutes after a couple of very short but pragmatic questions we decided straight away. I asked the boss ‘do you want me back?’ and the boss asked me ‘do you want to come back?’ I think in a couple of minutes the decision was made: José Mourinho.

The Guardian reports the “Special One” is set to become the highest paid manager in Premier League with a £8.5m salary. Mourinho’s assistans Rui Faria and Silvino Louro are also part of the deal.

Author’s note: It is clear to me that José Mourinho is the best football manager in the world, despite his temper and his not-so-great relationship with Spanish press. His exit from Real Madrid is a sign of the Spanish club’s incapacity to retain valuable assets in time of crisis.
