Robin as the new Batman… really?

Who gets to be the new Batman?

Ok folks that’s it. We all enjoyed ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, Bane, Selina Kyle, the action, the thrill! But since I left the theatre the first time I got to watch the film, I had a slightly bitter flavour in my mouth, something was just not quite right.

The fact that John Blake’s character legal name was in fact was Robin, baffled me, to say the least. I mean, if he was intended to be the Cape Crusader’s sidekick Robin, his “legal” name should have been Dick Grayson, don’t you think?

Anyhow, the really annoying issue now is the rumour going on about who gets to portray “the new Batman”. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who played John Blake aka Robin in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’) is set to become the new Batman according to Metro.co.uk, Yahoo! Movies and other sources.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is ‘absolutely’ set to appear as Batman in the forthcoming ‘Justice League of America’ film, according to reports: Yahoo! Movies.

Speculations, rumours! If that’s all then I’m fine with it, but if Robin actually becomes Batman (not Nightwing, as it could be in a less than coherent world) I’ll declare officially annoyed and I will only blame one person for this misconstruction: Christopher Nolan.

If Nolan decided the “legal” name of John Blake had to be revealed, why not make it Jean-Paul Valley (Azrael) or Dick Grayson (Robin/Nightwing) just to be consistent with the Batman story arc? Well, I guess I’m just rambling uh? Normal people live their lives without troubling themselves with this kind of gibberish, right?
