And with a brace!
Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández pulled a double tonight at Old Trafford and led the ‘Red Devils’ to a comeback win against Portuguese side SC Braga. Jonny Evans also scored for the English club.
Braga took the advantage early in the first half with two goals by captain Alan, however, United’s offensive line (Rooney, van Persie and Hernández) was simply too much for the visitors.
Hernández, who has been strongly criticized by media in his country, has scored 4 goals in his last three matches, two with his national team in the FIFA World Cup™ qualifiers and now two with Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League™ matchday 3. In this tournament Hernández sums 3 appearances (171 minutes played), two goals and no assists.
MAN OF THE MATCH:
Javier Hernandez – Manchester United: The Mexico striker will be banging on Alex Ferguson’s door for more starts after his brace: EuroSport.
Lately lots of rumours have been heard about his probable exit from United in the winter, linking Hernández to clubs in Portugal, Spain and even Italy, arguing an apparent poor performance by the striker during the current season. However, with the market closed, no real interest has been shown publicly by any club whatsoever.
If Hernández needs to leave United in order to develop better as a footballer, so be it, nobody is bound to be with a club forever; however after tonight’s fixture, Ferguson and his team might want to reconsider if ‘Chicharito’ is transfers material after all.
