Dutch striker Robin van Persie is about to complete his transfer to Manchester United after the ‘Red Devils’ and Arsenal have reached an agreement. A medical is in order to complete the deal so van Persie will travel to Manchester on Thursday to sort it out and agree personal terms with United.
The agreement was officially announced by Arsenal just a few minutes ago. The Telegraph reports the transfer is worth £22’000,000.00 and the Dutchman will receive a fee of £200,000.00 a week, however according to the Daily Mail, the operation is for £24’000,000.00.
It is not the first time Arsenal loses its skipper before the start of the season. Exactly one year ago the team gave up their captain Cesc Fàbregas who moved to F.C. Barcelona in a £36’000,000.00 deal.
Last season van Persie won the Barclays Golden Boot at Premier League, scoring 30 goals in 38 appearances. As a Manchester United player, van Persie will have to earn his place in the first squad where Javier ‘Chicharito‘ Hernández, ‘Danny’ Welbeck, Dimitar Berbatov and others struggle constantly to be Wayne Rooney’s wingman.
Robin van Persie was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands on August 6th, 1983.
