British theoretical physicist and cosmologist Stephen William Hawking, will join Jim Parsons (in the role of Dr. Sheldon Cooper), John Galecki (portraying Dr. Leonard Hofstadter) and the rest of the cast in American sitcom ‘The Big Bang Theory’.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show featuring Professor Hawking will be aired on April 5th, 2012.
It has been said Professor Hawking will hold a discussion with his fellow-theoretical physicist Dr. Sheldon Cooper, who focuses on quantum mechanics and string theory. The BBC reports the show producers had asked Hawking to appear on the show before, but he had been too ill to take part.
Professor Hawking (70 years-old) is the author of A Brief History of Time, The Universe in a Nutshell and The Grand Design, among other highly-recognized works. He is a worldwide authority on scientific matters such as black holes and gravitational singularities.
‘The Big Bang Theory’ is currently on its fifth season. It was created by Bill Prady and Chuck Lorre (also the creator or ‘Two and a Half Men’), and is expected to last at least until 2014. It has featured some other acclaimed guest stars, like George Smoot, Brian Greene, Leonard Nimoy and Steve ‘Woz’ Wozniak.
As you all know, the series is not only famous for its geekness and scientific accuracy, but also for its female main character Penny, portrayed by American actress Kaley Cuoco.
