Boeing 787 ‘Dreamliner’ has finally made its first commercial flight with All Nippon Airways (ANA) from Tokyo’s airport (Narita) to Hong Kong. ANA plans to use the 787 on regular flights to Hong Kong, Beijing and Frankfurt.
787 is a true game-changer for commercial aviation. It uses 20 per cent less fuel than comparable aircraft, has 30 per cent lower maintenance costs and offers a truly new and unique passenger experience: Shinichiro Ito (ANA’s C.E.O.).
Some of the 787 highlights:
*LED illumination for the cabin to create a more relaxing space
*Enhanced loos. Toilet seats with warm-water bidet function (Washlet™) for a comfortable and clean experience.
*A more spacious and relaxed atmosphere. 42 seats for business class (international short haul).
The ‘Dreamliner’ maiden flight took place on December 15th, 2009 in the U.S.A. Seven units were built for testing purposes.
The Telegraph reports the ‘Dreamliner’ is the fastest selling aircraft in Boeing’s history with orders so far for 821 from 56 airlines worldwide, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic among them.
