Alessandro Del Piero (36), the iconic bianconero attacking midfielder is playing his last season for Juventus according to club’s president Andrea Agnelli, during a shareholder’s meeting as reported by ESPN and Corriere dello Sport [it].
The only connection between Juventus’ recent homes – from the ‘Comunale’ to the ‘Delle Alpi’, from the Olympic Stadium to the Juventus Stadium – is our captain, Alessandro Del Piero, to whom I’d like to dedicate a big hand, because he strongly wanted to stay at Juventus for one year more and for his last season wearing this shirt: Andrea Agnelli.
Del Piero was born on November 9th, 1974 in Conegliano, Italy. He has played for Juventus for over 18 years and holds the record as the club’s all-time leading goal scorer. In 2006, Alessandro Del Piero won the FIFA World Cup™ with Italy and has achieved 91 appearances for his national team.
La Vecchia Signora and fans all over the world will sure miss Del Piero if he retires at the end of the season. On a personal note I’d like to add he and Roberto Baggio are the reasons I became a football fan and a loya supporter of the squadra azzurra.
