The world’s biggest passenger airplane nicknamed the ‘Superjumbo’ collided with a building while taxiing during the 49th International Paris Air Show at Le Bourget. The incident occurred last week in preparation for the event.
The collision caused the A380 to lose the left wingtip. The damaged aircraft is part of the Airbus fleet for testing and demonstration purposes. Korean Air flew one of its A380 to the show to come to Airbus’ rescue.
According to Wikipedia, 69 units of the A380 have been produced (as of June 23rd, 2011) at a cost of €260’000,000.00 each.
