Ryanair: banned advertising

So you may have thought the days of bans for advertising featuring a woman in a bikini were over… you were wrong!

The latest Ryanair bikini ad has been banned, but o.k., let’s be fair, it wasn’t because of the model wearing a small bikini, it was banned because it was deemed as “misleading” by the advertising watchdog in the United Kingdom.

Ryanair 8 quid

The ad is part of a campaign in newspapers for flights costing as little as £8 from February to March. Sun was in short supply at the destinations featured in the promotion though, these included Glasgow, Oslo, Frankfurt and Hamburg among others, including destinations in Denmark.

Ryanair protested that despite the image used on the ad it meant destinations that had significant amounts of daytime sunshine during those months: Mark Sweney (The Guardian).

Sure this one will upset Ryanair CEO, Michael O’Leary.
