(What’s the Story) Morning Glory? One of Pope’s favourites / Brit award winner

This is a good week for Oasis. Even though they’re not a band anymore they keep harvesting awards and acknowledgments.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Oasis album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? has been named in a Vatican top ten of essential listening.

Albums by other great bands such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd and U2 were also part of the peculiar list revealed by L’Osservatore Romano, Vatican’s official newspaper.

On the other hand, Oasis got the Brit award for “Brits Album of 30 Years” for their record (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?

The ceremony took place earlier tonight at Earl’s Court in London; Liam Gallagher was responsible for accepting the award on behalf of all the band members. This is what he said:

Listen kids, I want to thank Bonehead, Guigs, Alan White and the best fucking fans in the world. Live forever!

(What’s the Story) Morning Glory? was released on October 2nd, 1995, featuring 12 tracks, all written by Noel Gallagher who produced the album along with Owen Morris. It contains truly amazing tunes which became real anthems for a whole generation such as Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back in Anger and Champagne Supernova.  It also contains Cast No Shadow, “dedicated to the genius of ex-Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft”.

The album was recorded in Rockfield Studios and was number 1 in the United Kingdom for several weeks. It has sold over 14 million copies worldwide.

Noel Gallagher, main song writer and guitarist of Oasis quit the band on August  28th, 2009 amidst rumours of trouble with his younger brother Liam due to his alcohol abuse and inappropriate behaviour towards other band members and Noel’s girlfriend.
