Anne Hathaway to play Catwoman in the new Batman movie
Post updated on August 5th, 2011 with the first image of Anne Hathaway for the film, The Dark Knight Rises, released by Warner Bros. Pictures.
Anne Hathaway has been cast as ‘Catwoman’ for the new Batman movie ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘, according to Reuters. Hathaway was on the list of actresses which tested for the role in recent weeks, along with Jessica Biel and Keira Knightley.
Anne Jacqueline Hathaway was born on November 12th, 1982 in Brooklyn, New York. She has starred several Hollywood movies such as ‘The Princess Diaries’, ‘Brokeback Mountain’, ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and ‘Love and Other Drugs’.
Hathaway will host the 2011 Academy Awards with James Franco.
Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry are the other two actresses who have brought Selina Kyle/’Catwoman’ to life in the big screen. Needless to say Berry did it miserably and even won a Razzie for her interpretation.
Bane in the new Batman movie!
It has also been revealed that Tom Hardy, who worked with Christopher Nolan in ‘Inception’, will play the villain Bane.
Bane’s profile is certainly way lower than The Joker or The Penguin but it won’t be the first time he has appeared in a Batman movie. The late Jeep Swenson played him in 1997′s ‘Batman & Robin’ although most fans will have chosen to erase the memory of the panned film.
Bane is Poison Ivy’s henchman and in that movie he was portrayed as a brawny, destructive character. No doubt in Christopher Nolan’s film the comics will provide more inspiration and they reveal Bane as a considerably brainier villain, though still physically intimidating. The prison-raised baddie even broke Batman’s back in one ferocious encounter: Yahoo Movies.
‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is intended to complete Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy and is scheduled for release on July 20th, 2012.
January 19th, 2011.
